Modes

Modes - Stop it, Blog!

Modes are the heart of the game. This is where matches between Citizens, Slender and Proxies take place. While some have simple mechanics in terms of differences, others stand out for having a completely different objective from the conventional one for Citizens, where the standard goal is to collect eight pages and activate the three generators scattered around the maps.

Overview

There is a variety of modes within Stop it, Slender! 2. When a round ends, the game determines the next game mode in the lobby, either before starting the map vote or before starting the next map without a vote. There is a total of 5 game modes, each with a different effect or mechanic. While in all modes the objective of Slender and Proxies is the same, Citizens have some changes depending on the selected game mode. Some modes can be purchased in the lobby with pages, ensuring the next match follows that specific ruleset. Other modes require a minimum number of players to be activated, whether by purchase or randomly.

๐Ÿ“„ Normal Mode

Normal Mode is the default mode of the game, as well as the most common to be randomly selected. It cannot be purchased in the lobby, and the characters' objective is the game's standard. It does not require a minimum number of players to be chosen (aside from the game's standard, which is 2 people). Its timer is 10 minutes, although it only starts at 9 minutes and 45 seconds. For Citizens, it is necessary to collect eight pages and activate three generators scattered around the maps. For Slender, it is necessary to defend the pages and kill Citizens with your abilities. For Proxy, it is necessary to help Slender finish off Citizens with your abilities.

This game mode features Modern Generators, which are activated when the Citizen holds E for a while, charging their energy. During this process, the Citizen remains vulnerable as they cannot move away from the generator. Occasionally this mode causes some players to become Proxies, but it is not a guaranteed occurrence.

๐Ÿ•ฐ️ Classic Mode

Classic Mode is another common mode within the game, but it has a small difference. It can be purchased in the lobby for 25 pages, making it the cheapest game mode among the other 3 purchasable ones. It does not require a minimum number of players to be chosen (aside from the game's standard, which is 2 people). While the objectives remain the same, the timer is reduced to 8 minutes, although it only starts at 7 minutes and 45 seconds.

This game mode introduces the Classic Generators, which appeared in older versions of the game. Citizens only need to click once for the generator to start receiving energy, allowing them to navigate the map while the generator is turning on. This provides a significant tactical advantage, allowing Citizens to flee from danger or collect pages simultaneously while the generator charges. All other mechanics are similar to Normal Mode.

⚡ Power Supply Mode

Power Supply Mode is a mode with a significant difference. It can be purchased in the lobby for 30 pages. It does not require a minimum number of players to be chosen (aside from the game's standard, which is 2 people). Unlike Normal and Classic Mode, this game mode states that Citizens need to activate the Modern Generators and fully restore power, a slow and gradual process indicated by a small energy bar near the timer. Maps do not have pages to be collected in this mode.

While Citizens wait for the global power bar to fill, Slender and Proxies need to kill them. Slender is able to deactivate the generators in this game mode, draining energy and slowing down the Citizens' progress significantly. This forces Citizens to split their attention between defending themselves and reactivating sabotaged generators. The perk Electric Touch is recommended for this mode, as Modern Generators will charge 66% faster, thus solving the problem Slender created in less time. All other mechanics are similar to Normal Mode.

๐ŸงŸ Proxy Infection Mode

Proxy Infection Mode is a chaotic mode to play. It can be purchased in the lobby for 30 pages. It requires a minimum of four players to be chosen, otherwise, it will not happen, not even with the game's automatic mode selection. In this mode, it is guaranteed that someone will get the Proxy role at the start of the match. The game mode behaves like Normal Mode, however, if a Citizen is killed by Slender or Proxy, they will also become a Proxy.

This mechanic creates a snowball effect where the hunter team grows larger as Citizens die, eventually resulting in a horde of Proxies overwhelming the remaining survivors. What begins as a standard escape quickly becomes a nightmare of numerical disadvantage. The perk Proxy Oblivious is highly recommended for this mode, as it effectively eliminates the threat of Proxies entirely ─ they cannot see you or affect you with abilities and touch, allowing you to focus solely on avoiding Slender. All other mechanics are similar to Normal Mode.

๐Ÿ‘น๐Ÿ‘น๐Ÿ‘น Triple Slender Mode

Triple Slender Mode is the most difficult mode for Citizens. It can be purchased in the lobby for 50 pages, making it the most expensive game mode to acquire on the list. It requires a minimum of five players to be chosen, otherwise, it will not happen, not even with the game's automatic mode selection. In this mode, there will be three Slenders on the map, all with the objective of eliminating the Citizens. However, the death system functions differently: there are 15 total lives shared among the Citizens team. When someone dies, that person respawns on the map, deducting 1 life from the team pool.

To balance the increased threat of three hunters, Citizens must collect 15 pages instead of the standard 8 — a proportional increase that demands greater map coverage and coordination. Additionally, Slenders are restricted from using their Teleportation and Grab abilities, though they retain their Invisibility and Silent Appearance for movement and stalking purposes. This forces Slenders to rely purely on positioning, teamwork, and touch damage rather than ability-based ambushes. Team communication is essential for Citizens in this mode, as they must spread out to find pages quickly while avoiding three coordinated hunters. All other mechanics are similar to Normal Mode.

Trivia

  • Proxy Snowball: Proxy Infection Mode is the only mode where the hunter team can grow dynamically mid-match, as fallen Citizens convert into Proxies. While Triple Slender Mode also features an outnumbered Citizen team from the start (minimum 5 players means 3 Slenders versus only 2 Citizens), Proxy Infection Mode is unique in that the imbalance builds progressively, creating matches where a single surviving Citizen may find themselves facing Slender alongside a horde of converted Proxies.
  • Damage Over Abilities: In Triple Slender Mode, Slenders lose access to Teleportation and Grab, but their base damage is increased to compensate for the removal of offensive abilities. This trade-off transforms Slenders into relentless pursuers who rely on positioning and touch damage rather than ability-based ambushes. Note that Slender perks like Stronger Grab, Terror Aura, and Slender's Knowledge remain active, though Rapid Teleport becomes useless since the Teleportation ability is disabled.
  • Page Inflation: Triple Slender Mode is the only mode where Citizens must collect more pages (15) than actually exist in a standard round (8). While this means newer players may stumble upon pages more easily due to the increased spawn count, they should remain vigilant — Slenders can camp near respawning players, potentially dealing enough damage to leave a freshly spawned Citizen with less than 50% battery before they even have a chance to react.
  • Generator Sabotage: Power Supply Mode is the only game mode where Slender can directly interact with generators. By pressing a special key with a cooldown, Slender can deactivate a Modern Generator, undoing Citizen progress. In all other modes featuring Modern Generators, Slender cannot deactivate them, and Classic Generators cannot be deactivated at all once activated.
  • A Nod to Veterans: Classic Generators were the original generator type present in the game for a long period until the developer introduced Modern Generators and removed the old ones. To preserve the experience for longtime players, Classic Mode was added as a dedicated mode where veterans could continue playing with the mechanics they were accustomed to.
  • Minimum Player Gate: Both Proxy Infection Mode and Triple Slender Mode will silently fail to activate via random selection if the lobby does not meet their player requirements (4 and 5 respectively). When this occurs, the game defaults to Normal Mode, Classic Mode, or Power Supply Mode instead.
  • No Pages, No Problem: Power Supply Mode removes pages entirely from the map pool, making it the only mode where perks like Energy Synthesis, Energizing Pages, and Page Radar are completely useless.
