Citizen ─ known to some players as Survivor ─ is one of the three playable roles in Stop it, Slender! 2. As a Citizen, your goal is simple: collect all eight pages and activate all three generators before Slender and the Proxies drain your battery. Look directly at Slender and your flashlight battery drains. Stare too long, and your battery will drain to zero in seconds.
The start of a round in Classic Mode
Overview
The Citizen is the primary good role in Stop it, Slender! 2, and the most common role in any match (up to 7 Citizens per round). Alongside Slender, the round cannot begin without at least one Citizen. As a Citizen, your objective is to collect all eight pages and activate all three generators before the timer runs out. You have the same time limit as Slender: 9 minutes and 45 seconds (or 7 minutes and 45 seconds in Classic Mode). If a Citizen looks directly at Slender or gets touched by a Proxy, they lose battery percentage. At 0%, the Citizen dies and returns to the lobby.

Unique to Citizens: You are the only role that has active perks ─ up to 3 slots by default. Additional slots can be purchased individually via gamepass, allowing up to a maximum of 6 slots. These are equippable in the shop before the round starts, allowing you to customize your survival strategy significantly.
Mechanics
Unlike Slender and Proxies, Citizens don't have base abilities. Instead, their actions come from core mechanics and equipped perks.
⚡ Pages & Generators (Base Actions)
- Pick up pages by touching them (or clicking on them with your mouse).
- Activate generators by holding E (or clicking in Classic Mode).
๐ Stamina (Shift)
Hold Shift to run at a higher speed. While not faster than Slender, it's essential for:
- Running away from Slender's grab.
- Reaching pages quickly.
- Avoiding Proxy touches.

Stamina drains while running and slowly regenerates when you stop. With the related perk, you can run longer and regenerate faster.
๐ฆ Flashlight (F)
Press F to turn your flashlight on or off. At its base, the flashlight is mostly for visibility. However, with the related perk equipped, turning your flashlight off makes your battery slowly regenerate. Another related perk makes the flashlight stronger (better illumination).

Note: Citizens are the only role that cannot see in the dark without a flashlight.
๐️ Night Vision (G)
Equip the related perk and press G to activate. Your vision turns green, allowing you to see in the dark for a few seconds before the bar runs out. Best used in open, wide areas where pages can be anywhere ─ like outdoor maps or large halls.

๐ฉน Auxiliary Battery (Q)
Equip the related perk and press Q to activate. This ability can only be used if you have already lost 50% or more of your maximum battery. Once triggered, you will gradually regenerate health, recovering up to 50% of your maximum capacity. Taking damage from Slender or a Proxy during this period will interrupt the process, leaving you with whatever health you managed to recover.
Survival
Becoming a great Citizen takes practice, but these tips will keep your battery alive.
๐ Deal With Proxies Immediately
Proxies are annoying on their own ─ but with Slender backing them up, they're deadly.
- Aim your flashlight at a Proxy to fade them (make them disappear temporarily).
- If a Proxy runs away, chase them cautiously ─ they're likely waiting for abilities to cooldown, but beware of being led into Slender.
- If Slender makes you look away while fading a Proxy, walk in circles around the Proxy to avoid Slender's gaze (high risk of Slender using Grab).
๐ญ Watch Out for Modern Generators
Modern Generators take time to recharge, forcing you to hold E until it's done. This is free damage time for Slender and Proxies.
- If Slender is in front of you or touching, quickly swap to the other side of the generator to avoid further damage. Repeat this if Slender follows you to that side.
- If Slender grabs you while at the generator, don't stop holding E ─ the generator is still recharging.
- If a Proxy touches you, you'll be forced off the generator. Fade them away immediately so you can continue.
๐ฎ Predict Slender's Appearances
If Slender is focusing on you, he will likely appear in front of you to deal damage.
- Misguide him ─ Walk backward for a moment, then return to your original path.
- Sometimes Slender will miss the timing and appear behind you instead ─ use this opportunity to run away, gaining more distance across the map.
๐ญ Be a Nuisance
Use the prediction method above to intentionally waste Slender's time. While you slowly lose battery, other Citizens are collecting pages.
- This isn't a guaranteed win for you personally, but your teammates get breathing room.
- With good predictions, you can stall Slender for minutes without taking damage ─ as long as you stay a few meters away (outside grab range).
๐งญ Round Sweep (Page Hunting)
If you don't remember page locations on a map:
- Search the whole map in a pattern (check every room or corner systematically).
- It takes more time, but it's a safe approach ─ especially if you're not being chased.
This is better than running around randomly and walking into Slender by accident.
Trivia
- Window Trick: Looking at Slender through a window prevents battery drain ─ though this only works in certain spots like the windows in Building A from Asylum.
- Sound Tracking: You can estimate Slender's location by listening to his running sounds (even while invisible) or seeing his chat bubble appear above him.
- Auto-win: If the Slender player leaves the match, Citizens win by default (though it doesn't officially count as a win).
- Timer Discrepancy: The Normal Mode instructions screen says 10 minutes, but the actual timer starts at ~9:45.
- Post-win Night Vision: Citizens gain brief night vision after winning (all pages/generators collected).
- Stamina Trick: Standing still while holding Shift won't restore or deplete stamina.
- Invisibility Blind: Citizens cannot see Slender while he's invisible.
